When you hear the word domino, you might immediately think of the wooden blocks that are used in games. But, this game has a long and mysterious history. It first came to Europe in the mid-18th century. Although it was initially only popular in France and Austria, it has since spread to the rest of the world.

Dominoes are rectangular blocks made of wood or bone. They are often marked with a line on the middle. The pieces can be stacked on top of each other or face down. During the late 1700s, the domino game began to gain popularity in France. After the Napoleonic Wars, it was brought to England by the French prisoners of war. From then on, dominoes were known worldwide.

By the 1860s, they were beginning to appear in American literature. John F. Kennedy was president in 1963 and publicly reaffirmed his belief in the domino theory. He increased support for non-communist forces in Laos and South Vietnam.

The domino effect is a set of events and their results that lead to a cascade of new behaviors. Often, it is caused by a change in the environment, such as a new technology or mergers. Another possible cause is downsizing or mergers.
